On friday,May 31st 2002, Brandywine met Kapalaea on the first game of the afternoon. After 4 chukkers, with no time left on the clock, Kapalaea had a chance to win with a penalty 3. With a miss, the game went on to sudden death overtime. Brandywine had a penalty 3 in the first few seconds of the overtime chukker. A missed shot to goal was all Kapalaea needed to go all the way across the arena, where a penalty 4 was called by umpire Herman Louis Decoite. Kapalaea scored and earned a trip to the finals.

The second game featured the Silver bullets vs. Polo Lio. A high scoring game was expected and the spectators were treated to a great game of polo. Young Ka'aina Decoite and his teammates prevailed at the end, with a score of 10 to 9 over Joey Brittain. The Finals would see Kapalaea vs. Polo Lio, facing each other at the Haleakala Ranch Arena.

On Sunday, June 2nd.The first game was postponed due to rain. After waiting a few hours, the skies over Haleakala showed a little bit of blue, and it was decided to go ahead with the finals. Some rain fell during the chukkers, footing was never a problem and at the end of the 4 th chukker, Kapalaea had the lead 10 to 9.

Congratulations to all players who participated in this tournament. All of you made this USPA tournament a success!!!
